Being a student full-stop is a struggle, everyone knows that, but being interested in fashion and wanting to buy clothes every week is even harder. Please feel sorry for me xoxo Trying to budget money for food, nights out, clothes for nights out, clothes for daily wear and having an attempt at saving (lol who's she?) is really bloody hard! But somehow, me, and a million other students get through it. More, sensible than others, some, not so. Aka me. One point- I will always find money for clothes, forget everything else.
I'm going to write down some tips that have helped me manage more than fine whilst being at uni and wanting to buy clothes all the time which could help you too. Honestly, I hope you're better with money than me. I hope that when it comes to reading week you have the money budgeted aside to buy the books instead of having no spare money and having to make it up at work but will always find money to buy a new outfit for nights out. I really hope you have more self control than me.
Some tips I have...
Budget your money
Make a budget planner for the money you have, give yourself a weekly budget that fits in with your lifestyle with the money you have. My Mom help me set up a budget planner so I can see my in-goings and outgoings, how much spare money I have until I max my overdraft and what bills I need to pay and if I want to treat myself- how long I have to make it back up at work.
Use Monzo
Bit on non-spon promo here, but since I got Monzo I find it so much easier to money manage. I move my weekly money into Monzo and then keep my other money in my normal bank account. Monzo tells you how much you've spent each day after each transaction, you can automatically put spare change in a savings pot which quickly adds up and you can easily transfer money to people, split bills and request money.
Get a job
People say don't have a job in first year, but, I think once you've settled in the extra cash really helps. You can go out and treat yourself and not feel guilty for it because you earnt it and you know you can make it back up at work! It also extends your social circle and gives you life skills.
Shop on eBay for your brands
I use eBay to shop for Juicy Couture. Obviously you can use it for any brand and practically any thing but I use it for Juicy mainly, because people on Depop whack the prices up because it's normally middle class white girls selling shit at extortionate prices whereas eBay is normal people just trying to sell their old clothes.
eBay is also really good for rave and festival outfits!!!
They're just a few of the tips that I follow that keep me being able to buy clothes most weeks and still have money to eat lol. Good luck xxx
